this project started out with an '01 American Series Telecaster, Aquamarine.

I left it alone for quite a while, but then decided to make it look a little less stock ....
this is the stock guitar after a simple pickguard change.
It actually sounded OK stock, but after a while I found myself with a couple of extra tele pickups, got a little restless, a little curious, and replaced all the stock controls, and the pickups with a Seymour Duncan Hot neck, and Jerry Donohue bridge....

This is actually a great, well balaced combination. The "JD" is a warm, expressive pickup, wound slightly hot. The "Hot" neck provides enough output to get some decent overdrive when pushed. (See the clips to the left.)
Somehow, I got infected by the Telemodders' bug. I began tuning this guitar in open G, and using it for both rhythm chording, and slide. After seeing several "telegib" projects, and seeing someone's re-creation of Keith Richards' "Micawber" tele, I decided to try a PAF style humbucker in the neck, and settled on a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover.
Here are a few pictures after the Seth conversion ....

the guitar now has a new custom pickguard, new control plate, CTS pots, Orange Drop capacitor, 50s stlye dome knobs, and strat style switch tip.
